Give and You Shall Recieve

Every year our church participates in the Operation Christmas Child program which brings the joy of Christmas to needy children around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes. The boxes are filled with some basic essentials such as soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. and also some fun stuff like toys and school supplies. We've never participated in the program, but this year I really felt lead to do so. Even when we are struggling financially God has always provided for us and met our needs. He has also blessed me the knowledge to be a thrifty shopper giving me the ability to give even more. I also felt that it would be a good lesson for my children to learn that not everyone has as much as we do and that we need to do our part to help them. They asked all sorts of questions and I did my best to answer them. They helped me fill the boxes as we had a great conversation about what this would mean to these little kids and their families. I think it made them feel really good to not only work on this project with me, but to know that they were doing something good for others. It made me feel good to see my kids so excited to give unselfishly.

In our giving, we have also received.

It feels so great to do those kind of things doesn't it? Glad your kids were excited to help you!
